How to Use a Microwave Egg Cooker

First, make sure to gently wash the egg maker before initial use with warm soapy water. Then simply dry with a clean dish towel, or paper towel.

Then remove the orange lid, and place the bottom portion into the microwave to preheat for 1-2 minutes.

Next, add a small amount of avocado oil or olive oil to the base of the egg cooking circles.

You only need a small amount of oil.

Next, crack one large egg into each individual cup of the metal base. You do not need to add vinegar or puncture the yolk.

Then place the lid onto the base so that it fits snuggly. It does not connect, it merely sits on top.

How Long to Cook Eggs in an Egg Cooker

Place the microwavable egg maker into the microwave oven and start by setting the cook time for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, carefully remove the cooker with silicone gloves to check on the eggs.

With 2 minutes of cook time, the base of the whites are beginning to set, but the yolks are still uncooked, and some of the white is still uncooked.

Cover again, and place back in the microwave for 30 seconds.

After 30 seconds, carefully remove the cooker again. Be careful, this is hot, especially the black metal base section. At this point, use a small spatula to flip the eggs over.

Cover again, and place in the microwave for another 30 seconds. This will result in fully cooked-through eggs, and yolks without overdoing it.

You can see that flipping the egg over midway through the cooking process allows the underside to cook nice and even for a perfectly cooked round egg.

My favorite way is on a fresh tomato slice, with a side of fresh berries, and a sprinkle of herbs for a light and delightful breakfast. How will you enjoy yours?

How to Clean an Egg Cooker

While the manufacturer claims dishwasher-safe cleaning, I prefer a quick hand wash with warm soapy water and a towel dry to maintain the non-stick surface for years to come. In a pinch, you can often simply wipe away leftover residue with a paper towel after use.
